Ctrl Alt Secures FCA Authorisation After Tokenising $1.2 Billion in Assets
Ctrl Alt, a London-based tokenisation infrastructure provider, has secured direct authorisation from the UK Financial Conduct Authority (FCA), marking a significant milestone for the firm as it scales its digital capital markets operations.
The authorisation places Ctrl Alt Ltd - a subsidiary of Alt Ltd - on the FCA's register as an investment firm (FRN: 1045023), enabling it to offer regulated investment services and expand its capabilities across the full lifecycle of tokenised assets. The company had previously operated as an Appointed Representative.
Founded in 2022, Ctrl Alt has now tokenised over $1.2 billion in assets spanning real estate, private credit, funds, and commodities. The firm operates across the UK, Europe, and the Middle East, with offices in London, Ireland, and the UAE.
Matt Ong, CEO and Founder of Ctrl Alt, said: "This authorisation is an important step for Ctrl Alt and for financial innovation in the UK as a whole. It allows us to continue expanding our tokenisation capabilities and support the development of more efficient and accessible financial markets."
The FCA approval aligns with Ctrl Alt's growing involvement in UK regulatory innovation. The company is a participant in the Bank of England's Digital Securities Sandbox and has been approved as a Synchronisation Operator in the Bank of England's Synchronisation Lab, both of which explore tokenisation infrastructure for securities issuance, trading, and settlement.
Beyond the UK, Ctrl Alt has established a strong presence in the Gulf region. The firm holds a licence from Dubai's Virtual Assets Regulatory Authority (VARA) and is partnering with the Dubai Land Department on a real estate tokenisation project using the XRP Ledger, alongside VARA, the Dubai Future Foundation, and PRYPCO. That initiative targets AED 60 billion ($16 billion) in tokenised real estate by 2033 - roughly 7% of Dubai's total property transactions.
Other notable partnerships include a $280 million diamond tokenisation deal with Billiton Diamond, secured through Ripple custody, and a collaboration with Mirae Asset Global Investments to explore fund tokenisation in the UAE.
Ctrl Alt's team draws from institutions including Morgan Stanley, Credit Suisse, UBS, and Revolut. The company is registered in England and Wales with its headquarters at 86-90 Paul Street, London.
