Thawani Pay Partners with Network International to Accelerate Digital Payment Innovation in Oman

Thawani Pay has signed a strategic partnership with Network International to accelerate credit card and digital payment innovation in Oman, leveraging the payment processor's infrastructure to support the fintech's newly acquired Visa credit card licence.

The collaboration provides Thawani with access to Network International's processing infrastructure, global expertise, and technology capabilities needed to launch and manage a credit card programme. Network International will handle card processing, fraud monitoring, and settlement services for Thawani's Visa credit cards.

The partnership is essential for Thawani's transition from a payment acceptance platform to a card issuer. While the Visa licence grants Thawani the right to issue credit cards, the operational infrastructure for card processing requires specialised capabilities that Network International provides as one of the largest payment processors in the Middle East and Africa.

Network International's processing platform supports the full lifecycle of card management, from issuance and activation through transaction processing and dispute management. The platform's scale and reliability provide Thawani with the operational foundation needed to serve a growing cardholder base.

The partnership is expected to deliver enhanced security, scalability, and customer experience for Omani consumers who will use Thawani's credit cards. Network International's fraud prevention capabilities are particularly important for a new card issuer building its risk management capabilities.

The collaboration reflects the broader trend of fintechs partnering with established payment processors to accelerate their entry into regulated financial products.
